The course covers the Indigenous and Christianity architecture of Sudan, the Islamic architecture of Sudan, the Colonialism and Western architecture of Sudan, the two most distinctive present-day architecture styles of Sudan; the Modern and the Contemporary architecture and the necessity of reaching a unique Afro-Arab hybrid Sudanese architecture via the Socio-cultural, the most controversial influential factor, as a symbol of social coherence.

  • The course thoroughly goes through the African architecture Triple Heritage of Sudan and its Historical, Geographical, Geological, Climatic and Socio-cultural influential factors, the Indigenous and Christianity architecture of Sudan, the Islamic architecture of Sudan, the Colonialism and Western architecture of Sudan, the two most distinctive present-day architecture styles of Sudan; the Modern and the Contemporary architecture and the necessity of reaching to a unique Afro-Arab hybrid Sudanese architecture via the Socio-cultural

  • This course investigates the socio-political impacts on the architecture generally, on the Afro-Arab states and most precisely its impact on the socio-politics of Sudan, by looking at the rich Architecture of Sudan and seeing ways and means of employing the most suitable styles that could influence the social coherence and social unification the Sudanese so much need, and see possibilities of such employment on the African nations, especially those of similar socio-cultural complexity as that of Sudan.

  • The search for a social unification symbolism for the people of Sudan, based on the diversified architecture heritage of Sudan and seeing ways and means of the much that could influence the social coherence and social unification, not only needed by Sudan but also most of the African nations so much need, especially those of similar socio-cultural complexity as that of Sudan.

CPDI AFRICA CERTIFICATES AND DIPLOMAS

Certificates of Completion are awarded to students after completing each of the Modules contained in a course. All CPDI Africa courses are audited, allowing students to pace their progress and learning outcomes. Submission of research and assignments, and other learning objectives given by the instructors, is not required, however we encourage students to complete the assignments to aid in successful passing of the Diploma designation graduation exam. Designation of the Diploma in African Centered Architecture is awarded to a student upon successful completion of 3 (three) full CPDI Africa courses, taken either on the virtual platform, having completed face to face, or in person workshops in Africa, and successful passing of the graduating exam offered once annually.
