Module Four: The Evolution of Afrocentric Building Rating Systems (ABRS)
This course explores the effects of Nigeria’s fast rising urban population on the quality of life of urban residents, and the influence that urban planning (or the lack of it) has in shaping Nigerian cities, improving or worsening urban life. The course will delve into the historical structure of Nigerian cities and towns, post-colonial approaches to urban planning, and the organic/informal development and expansion of cities. These will enrich students to contextually envision more sustainable urban planning and management for Nigerian cities.
